The firm was founded by Ms Janyde Maré in 2016 and has grown over the past 6 years from humble beginnings to a law firm representing high net-worth individuals, established corporates and government departments.

Our People
JANYDE MARE
Director
Janyde Maré is the visionary behind J F Maré Attorneys. Janyde was born in the small town of Pietermaritzburg before studying at the University of Pretoria where she obtained her LLB degree. Janyde served her articles at De Swardt Vogel Myambo Attorneys where she worked in the local government and municipal law department as well as the labour law department.
Janyde has a strong entrepreneurial nature which ultimately forced her to leave the corporate world and venture into running her own law firm. Janyde has built, managed and grown the firm sustainably and consistently over the last six years. During the same time she has established and managed other businesses with much success.
CHRISTIAN BISRAT
Associate
Christian obtained her LLB Law degree at the University of Pretoria and served her articles at Weavind & Weavind Attorneys. She has gained extensive exposure to general litigation, labour law, property law as well as banking law. Christian joined JF Mare Attorneys in 2020 and has a special interest in the fields of property law, labour law and immigration Law.
Christian is also completing her LLM at the University of Pretoria in Child Law as she has a passion for children and believes Legal Practitioners are entrusted with the responsibility to use the law as an instrument to uphold and protect the best interests of children, who are the most vulnerable members of our society.
OUR SERVICES
Labour Law
The firm has an outstanding record in Labour Law matters. The firm has been involved in matters in the Labour Court, CCMA, SALGBC, internal disciplinary hearings on behalf of employers and employees as well as chairing of disciplinary hearings. We have a proven track record with facilitating retrenchment processes and can confirm that our retrenchments have never been overturned by the Labour Court. The firm has furthermore also assisted in negotiations between trade unions and employers as well as negotiations between employer and employee.
Immigration Law
We assist foreigners, their families and employers in all aspects of South African immigration legislation and policy compliance. We assist on obtaining the required documentation, we compile the application and assist the client in submission thereof. We obtain the outcome of the application and are equipped to handle any further administrative process arising therefrom. We assist our client’s in obtaining an array of visa’s and permits to meet their specific needs including but not limited to permanent residence applications, temporary residence visa’s including visitor’s visa, work visa, study visa and medical treatment visa’s.
Real Estate Law
The firm handles all matters relating to property. Ms Christie Bisrat is currently registered with the Estate Agency Affairs Board and has a vast amount of experience in Property Real Estate Law which includes but is not limited to residential and commercial leases, evictions and rental disputes, spoliation applications, building agreements and disputes and property related arbitrations. The firm also currently works with a trusted team of experts who specialize in intricate conveyancing work including registration of property transfers, bond registrations and cancellations, property dispute resolution and related legal advice.
Pension Fund Law
Pension Fund law in South Africa has emerged as a particularly niche field of law and forms part of our service offering. We have assisted individuals, administrator’s of pension funds and corporates with referring as well as defending complaints to the Pension Fund Adjudicator. We have also been involved in drafting of forensic investigations reports to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority as well as drafting of applications for reconsiderations to the Financial Services Tribunal. Our firm has also assisted clients in instituting proceedings on the High Court relating to Pension Fund law disputes.
Local Government
The firm has been involved in a wide variety of disputes in the Local Government sphere. Our services relating to local government include labour law disputes, interpretation of the Municipal Laws, litigation on behalf of and against municipalities and legal advice to Council of municipalities.Janyde Mare is a local government and municipal lawyer who has provided professional services to municipalities and officials employed in local government for more than 8 years.
General Litigation
The firm has a proven track record in the High Courts of South Africa. We endeavour to provide our clients with an effective dispute resolution service. We have been involved in arbitrations, mediations and settlement negotiations relating to litigation disputes. We pride ourselves in providing quality advise relating to disputes of this nature and stand by our mantra that proceeding to court should be a measure of the last resort after all internal remedies have been exhausted.
Estate Planning
Ms Janyde Mare in addition to being an admitted attorney is also a financial planner which has greatly assisted the firm in advising clients on tax effective estate planning with a view of minimizing estate duty. We offer specialized advice in the drafting and executing of wills. We pride ourselves in administering deceased estates in a timeous and meticulous manner. Commercial law
The firm offers commercial services in the form of negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, providing opinions on commercial agreements, registering of companies and trademarks. The firm has also successfully litigated disputes arising out of commercial contracts in the High Court as well as the Magistrate Court.
